Homosexuality

Is homosexuality natural? Nature devised the male and female genders for specific reasons and therefore she did not intend that people prefer partners of their own gender. It wanted them to use sex for the business of reproduction. However, sex serves several other purposes too. I mean there was no need to provide orgasm since we yearn for babies so much we'd go ahead and have them even if there were no joy or even if it were painful. So there is no reason at all why people of the same gender should not look for happiness together.

As to why someone might be homosexual, the scientist suggests that something stopped their emotional development at a point in early adolescence. Whether or not this developmental process could be resumed in later life depends on the individual's circumstances and personal wishes, but there is absolutely no need at all for anyone to suffer any kind of social or spiritual stigma. Occultists are not afraid of the subject, or embarrassed by its implications.

What about homosexuality? I understand it and I have students who are homosexual. I have no problem with this and neither do they. The only behaviour that offends my sensibilities is that of so-called 'raving queens' since this is more like a caricature of real femininity. Even so, I would not wish to cause any offence. I am perfectly happy to live and let live, and I have no thoughts at all about this or that way of life being inferior or superior. We are, after all, talking about two positive forces - love and sex - both of which carry great potential for good. It is not my place to criticise God's handiwork.

What about 'Gay Lib'? I agree with their political aims - to obtain equal rights and treatment under the law - but I do not agree with the notion that we ought to advocate homosexuality or present it as a perfect alternative. It does not produce children and if too many people walked that way then the population would nose-dive. Apart from that one caveat, I endorse and support all that Gay Lib stands for.

That said, I note that, on the Internet at least, there is a fairly common erotic fantasy in which gay people appear to wish to seduce straight people. This is a bit like adult men yearning to deflower virgins and I consider it to be an unhealthy trend and potentially destructive.

I believe that homosexuals deserve the same dignity and respect that straight couples do, and that they should merely conform to the same standards of public decency and taste. It has to be mentioned that homosexuals tend to be sexually hyperactive and promiscuous, and this I think does not bode well for long-term meaningful relationships. It is also conducive to the spread of sexually transmitted disease, as happens with hyperactive promiscuous straight men too.

Are you narrow-minded? I do not honestly think so. I respect my fellow men whatever their sexual preferences and I am merely being honest. Would you prefer me to be mealy-mouthed and pay lip service to trendy views? It is easy to lie, but far more difficult to tell the truth. God forbid that I ever hurt any human being, of whatever colour, race or creed; but I have to give the answer that is in my heart. I would like every homosexual to be one hundred per cent happy, but I do not think that widespread homosexuality would be good for the stability of society. Moreover, things like this function as an index of social ills, and any radical increase in the incidence of homosexuality - like any other form of non-standard behaviour - would suggest the approach of social upheaval and possible danger.

But having mentioned narrow-mindedness - is anyone more narrow-minded than gay men who believe they have caught scent of a homophobic fox?

Can Occultism cure gay people? Now that is offensive because 'gayness' is not something we should think of as an affliction. It is closer to (but has more serious consequences than) the colour of one's hair. You do not 'cure' red hair and you do not regard blond hair as the normal standard. You are free to change the colour of your hair .. we have the means and there is no penalty or danger. Much the same is true of sexual preference. People are not themselves responsible for what turns them on, and our only concerns should be for their welfare and happiness, as well as that of other people.

It must also be said that a certain proportion of homosexuals are horrified when they discover their proclivities, and may suffer extreme distress. Now in cases where the person genuinely wishes not to be homosexual then we could legitimately consider helping him.

Are magical energies the same for gays? Energies are generated by all kinds of sexual activity, and depraved sexuality (i.e. that with unwilling partners or victims) causes destructive forms of energy that have a terrible effect, especially over time. With gay men, it is much more common to find people indulging in 'sex for the sake of sex' rather than sex as an expression of love or as a process of cementing a bond. Let me make it clear that I do not object to this, but I simply point out that indiscriminate sexuality, whether straight or gay, is likely to prove damaging.

Given that men, in their prime, need sex more frequently than females, then perhaps homosexual men would make excellent magicians if they could see the sense in being more discriminating and in reserving their love-making for a chosen partner.

At the end of the day though, anyone sexually active is in fact searching for the satisfaction that orgasm provides. He is addicted, so to speak. His objections to any form of self-discipline can be overcome when it is pointed out that the quality of orgasm can be enhanced two-fold, threefold or a hundred-fold. No one wishes to rob him of his pleasure but rather to stop him squandering his shot.

What if it did not work? Since the aim is not to achieve any specific, pre-determined target but simply to bring about improvement, it is unlikely that one would fail. Indeed, one almost guarantees that any man's sex-life can be improved by a little study and more preparation. So, as long as a person's sex-life is not diminished or made worse, then he has not failed. The odds are much in favour of good progress being made and significant improvements being chalked up.

Was Aleister Crowley homosexual? If you examine the records you will find that he spends a great deal of time having children, both in and out of wedlock, which rather suggests otherwise. He was not averse to having sexual relations with a man but it was not by any means his preference. Even if he had been homosexual, the condition is not known to be hereditary. Personally, I think it is a mistake even to suggest that my father was possibly bisexual. He was simply a broad-minded man who never hesitated to seek sexual energies for whatever magic he was trying to work at the time.

Wasn't Aleister a 'friend' of Rasputin? Indeed, but Rasputin was more his magical twin and not his male lover. You have to remember that Rasputin too had a tremendous reputation for being a lady-killer. He too was married, and fathered several children. As a matter of fact, one of his daughters wrote a biography of him! Aleister Crowley met Rasputin only a few times. To the best of my knowledge this was just twice in St. Petersburg, and once at Mount Athos, in Greece.

What is a magical twin? There is a special kind of mystic fellowship which can exist between two people for non-sexual reasons. The emotions are so deep and strong that they may be subjectively perceived as 'love'. But there is no carnal desire and no lust. The motivation seems to be that each twin feels a need to merge his personality with the other and so achieve a high level of psychic power. Indeed, one ancient explanation used to be that a soul got split and was shared between them.

Is there any link with homosexuality? Only in the sense that a small proportion of gay men and women may not be truly homosexual at all, but mystic twins who have been misled by their powerful emotions. They may be terribly confused, just as two straight people would be, by the bizarre and inexplicable nature of the phenomenon. Only a relatively few people appreciate that mystic or magic twins exist, so it is easy to get hold of the wrong end of the stick. There is no reason for occult students to be in the least bit nervous. Twins are not all that common, and even when they do occur, they usually result in a great surge of psychic skills and magical abilities. In other words, there are compensations.

It sounds a bit far-fetched. I can accept that, and you are under no obligation whatsoever to swallow it. You are free to put it aside and forget all about it. It is not a dogma, or a point of essential doctrine. It makes no difference to your occult status or suitability whether you accept it or not.
